Pitch Mark Repair Month

May is Pitchmark Repair Month at Mannan Castle. We all want to putt on good greens : play your part to ensure that we do.

A correctly repaired pitchmark is fully repaired within 24 hours. An unrepaired or poorly repaired pitchmark takes 3 weeks to recover fully.

It is not their job, and greenstaff do not repair pitchmarks, but it is the reponsibility of all golfers to repair the pitchmarks that they make - and to repair them correctly. A badly repaired pitchmark will do more harm than good. Unrepaired pitchmarks cause bumpy greens, bare patches, and reduce the health and quality of the grass. Please watch the video below to see how it should be done, always carry a pitchfork with you when playing, in addition to your own, try to repair a pitchmark that someone else has ignored - and - aim to leave each green in a better condition as you walk off it than it was when you came to it.
